Bacon Cheeseburger Dip

Bacon Cheeseburger Dip is a cheesy, beefy bacon filled dip that’s the perfect game day appetizer your friends and family will love!

Bacon Cheeseburgers are such an All-American classic that I couldn’t resist making a dip that included all of the cheesy, bacon-y deliciousness that the burger has but without the mess. If you’re looking to add a few more appetizers to your spread, check out my Buffalo Chicken Dip or any other Party Foods on the site.

BACON CHEESEBURGER DIP

Game day is almost here and like everyone else, we’re getting ready to host a party with our friends and family. Let’s be honest though, you don’t even need to enjoy the sport to love going to the party. It’s the food and the commercials that really have us talking. It’s just a fun excuse to get together and hang out.

Let’s talk food! I love adding my classic Ultimate Spinach Artichoke Dip to our spread, as it’s a crowd favorite, but it’s also fun trying new appetizers to really WOW your guests. It’s all about options and the more you have, the less likely you are to run out of food, and nobody wants that.

This Bacon Cheeseburger Dip is perfect because not only is it easy to make, it gives you all the flavor of the main dish but keeps it in a smaller dipping portion. I like to add potato chips as dippers to keep it simple but you could also toast up sliced up burger buns (or toasted baguettes) or serve alongside crispy french fries to give a diner feel. Have fun with it!

VARIATIONS ON BACON CHEESEBURGER DIP

  • Mexican: Give it a taco twist by adding a taco seasoning packet to the meat. Top with a dollop of sour cream and sliced jalapenos and serve with tortilla chips.
  • Sauce: Add your favorite BBQ sauce by drizzling it on top before serving or place it in a small bowl beside the dip for your guests to add themselves.
  • Add-Ins: Try including diced tomatoes, chopped pickles or even a drizzle of ketchup to really give it a classic burger touch.
  • Toppings: Add chopped pickles, more bacon and sesame seeds for an awesome garnish!

HAMBURGER BUNS FOR DIPPING

If you are spying hamburger buns in this photo below let me tell you about this awesome hack I did for dipping bread! I know a lot of people like chips or French bread for dipping, but I bought a pack of hamburger buns instead.

  • Open the buns onto a baking sheet, laying them single layer cut side up.
  • Bake in 250 degree oven for 20-25 minutes until dried but still chewy (You’re looking for a French bread consistency).

You could toast the buns but that would result in a hard crumbly texture that wouldn’t hold up to the weight of the dip or would make a mess in the dip. This version of buns will be soft/chewy and not at all crumbly. It’s our new favorite bread dip hack.

FREQUENTLY ASKED QUESTIONS

  • Can I make Bacon Cheeseburger Dip ahead of time? To make this ahead of time, cook the meat filling and the bacon and store in an airtight container for up to 3 days in the refrigerator. You can also make the entire dish and reheat in the oven for 15-20 minutes, or until it’s warm throughout.
  • Can I make Bacon Cheeseburger Dip in a Slow Cooker? Yes, follow the same instructions but instead of transferring to a baking dish, add the ingredients into a crockpot and cook on low for 2-3 hours.
  • Can I double this Bacon Cheeseburger Dip recipe? This dip is easily doubled. No need to do the math, simply use the slider tool on the recipe card for the servings you want and everything will be calculated for you.

HOW TO SERVE AND STORE:

  • Serve: I don’t recommend leaving Bacon Cheeseburger Dip out at room temperature for longer than 2 hours. Place it in a crockpot and keep on warm during the party to avoid it getting cold. Make sure to continue to stir it every once in a while to keep it mixed.
  • Store: Once the dip has cooled, store it in the refrigerator in an airtight container or storage bag. It should be good for up to 4 days.
  • Freeze: I don’t recommend freezing the leftover dip. Diary can have a texture issue when thawing out and it might become grainy. I’m not sure it’s worth the effort.
