TWIX COOKIES

The next time you go looking for a unique, yummy, chewy cookie recipe, you should take inspiration from Twix candy bars. They have all of the delicious crunch and sweetness of a classic Twix bar mixed with the awesomeness of a cookie.

My recipe for chewy Twix Cookies is incredibly easy to follow, has a short prep time, and makes delicious, golden brown cookies that you can serve at any occasion. You can mix the cookie dough by hand or even with a stand mixer, but be sure to put the splash guard on to avoid wearing the Twix Cookies instead of eating them.

When you’re making your Twix cookies and you get to the point where you start to melt the caramel, you want to make sure that you double check your bowl to make sure that it actually is microwave safe. You can get pretty nasty burns if you’re holding a large bowl of molten caramel and it breaks in your hands.

I recommend letting your Twix Cookies sit on parchment paper on a cookie sheet to let the caramel and chocolate set. This cookie recipe is easy to make, but the hardest part is not sneaking bites of the cookie dough before it’s completely set. I would also recommend letting them sit on a wire rack to cool completely before chowing down.

Quick Tip: If you want to make this a quick and easy afternoon project with the kids you can just buy a tube of sugar cookie dough from the grocery store or buy pre-made sugar cookies and just add the toppings!

If you want to impress your friends, and yourself, even more with this cookie recipe, you can even make your own Homemade Caramel. You can add as much sea salt as you want to this creamy caramel, and starting with an already melted caramel sauce makes chewy Twix Cookies even easier.

HOW TO MAKE TWIX COOKIES

  • Make classic sugar cookie dough.
  • Roll out into 1/4″ thickness and use cutter for 3″ cookies.
  • Bake the cookies for 11-12 minutes.
  • Place the caramels and evaporated milk in a bowl.
  • Microwave caramels and evaporated milk in the microwave for 30 seconds and mix until smooth.
  • Add one teaspoon of caramel sauce to each cookie.
  • Microwave milk chocolate chips in 30 second increments until chocolate is melted.
  • Add a teaspoon of melted milk chocolate to each cookie.
  • Let chocolate harden before serving.

HOW LONG ARE TWIX COOKIES GOOD?

  • Serve: You can leave your Twix Cookies at room temperature for up to about 3 days before they get stale and bad. To make them last longer you should keep them in an airtight, sealable container. You should also leave them out to let the chocolate set at room temperature.
  • Store: Twix Cookies stay fresh in and airtight container in the fridge for up to 5 days. Always let them cool down to room temperature and let the chocolate set before you put them away. If you put away cookies that are still warm you can trap bacteria in with them and make you sick.
  • Freeze: Twix Cookies can last up to 4 months in the freezer as long as they are properly sealed. To keep them from getting stuck to each other, layer sheets of wax paper or parchment paper.

  1. HI there, I am trying to make right now, cookies look amazing caramel is on onw, but the chocolate wont really melt. I think I might have over cooked it. is there anyway to save it or should I start over?

    1. If it is seizing, try stirring some solid vegetable shortening (like Crisco) into the chocolate, using 1 tablespoon for every 6 ounces of chocolate.

  2. These are one of my favorite cookie recipes, hands-down! So delicious; I will definitely be baking these later today!

  3. I love Twix bars. They are one of my favorites (one of my kids’ favorites, too). This is such a great, simple recipe! Will store bought premade cookie dough work for this, too?
